ArtsZone Coordinator
About ArtsRising:
ArtsRising seeks candidates for the position of ArtsZone Coordinator. ArtsRising is a joint initiative lead by the Philadelphia Education Fund (Ed Fund), in partnership with Fleisher Art Memorial (Fleisher), and Public Citizens for Children and Youth (PCCY). The goal is to build and integrate the arts into every child’s education in Greater Philadelphia. This initiative serves as a builder, broker and bridge for creativity in schools and neighborhoods; forges new connections between schools and arts partners in the city; engages youth and community members; and celebrates the strong relationship among the arts, learning and youth development.
ArtsRising focused its early efforts in five community-based ArtsZones in the city of Philadelphia. Our work has expanded to include two additional ArtsZones, seven hub schools, affiliate schools from each zone, and an array of arts, cultural, community, civic and business partners.
Each ArtsZone is centered around a local public school (the hub), but includes and encourages broad community involvement by youth, families, educators, artists and arts organizations, local businesses and civic leaders, and community members. ArtsZones develop flexible, written implementation plans. Additional ArtsZones will be established across the city and throughout the five-county region. ArtsRising’s successes and lessons learned will also be used to benefit arts education on a national scale.
Responsibilities:
- In concert with the ArtsRising leadership team, arts organizations, the School District of Philadelphia and other organizational and individual partners, support the Director of ArtsRising in developing all aspects of ArtsZone implementation, including creating a replicable and scalable program model;
- Coordinate services, meetings, and information dissemination and sharing within the ArtsZones; help introduce and expand models of arts integration and take primary responsibility for coordinating and managing ArtsRising’s ArtsZone activities in up to three (3) selected ArtsZones and their hub schools;
- Work with the Director to develop effective community-based partnerships with key stakeholders in schools, arts and cultural organizations, and the community, the K-12 system, youth-service organizations, postsecondary institutions, and business, funding and civic partners in and beyond the ArtsZones;
- Support and maintain partnerships to address systemic needs/barriers to arts access;
- Work in ArtsZone schools and neighborhoods/communities to help gather documentation of the evaluation outcomes; work with school staff and others partners to ensure that appropriate data are collected; assist with ongoing neighborhood asset mapping;
- Ensure implementation and ongoing development of each ArtsZone’s (written) implementation plan.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree;

Solid knowledge of K-12 arts education, including knowledge of:
- developmentally appropriate practice;
- arts education currently available to youth and families in the region;
- state standards for the arts;
- current state of K- 12 arts education programming (in and out of school) in the region;
- Experience developing arts integrated curriculum and ability to identify strong arts education programming;
- Experience with the arts community in Philadelphia;
- Professional experience in the field of arts education, both in-school and out-out school settings;
- Experience working with community groups and families a plus;
- Experience implementing a coherent, consistent and cohesive program, working with diverse partners.
- High energy, and ability to think creatively and interact effectively with diverse constituencies;
- Excellent skills in analyzing and solving problems, while communicating process and results to constituents; outstanding written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to complete multiple responsibilities simultaneously and under time pressure, and to manage multiple, complex constituent relationships;
- Ability to work with current online and other technological solutions to support the ArtsRising program (i.e. website, social networking, blogs, etc...);
- Ability to work independently, while part of a team.
Reporting:
This position reports to the Director of ArtsRising.
