Grover music teachers learn Berklee Pulse method
Given their partnership with both the Berklee School of Music in Boston and Grover Washington Jr. Middle School in Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz & Performing Arts is in a unique position to be a conduit for music talent and training from middle school through college.
Lovett Hines (pictured middle), education director at the Clef Club, took some time out recently to introduce Grover's music teachers, Alex Cifelli (right) and Douglas Payne (left), to an online general music curriculum tool developed by Berklee called Pulse.
The Clef Club is one of two Philadelphia-based music education organizations that are partnered with Berklee and trained in utilizing the Pulse Method with their affiliated schools. The other organization in the city is AMLA (Artists & Musicians of Latin America).
The Pulse Method is user-friendly platform that teaches general music through interactive content including audio and video accompanying music theory training. The music content is also rich with historical information while showcasing contemporary artists that appeal to the listening tastes of current students.
