Ambrose Liu arrives at ArtsRising in his new position as an ArtsZone Coordinator.  He will work with the leadership team to actualize the mission of the ArtsRising initiative by strategically expanding the capacity of schools and neighborhoods to provide opportunities for the city’s youth to engage in creative activities and learning

Ambrose spent the last eight years at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark, NJ as an Associate Director for Artist-in-Residencies where he managed a variety of performing arts-based instructional programs based in schools throughout New Jersey.  These programs included working with local and regional teaching artists as well as national partners such as the Kennedy Center, The Wolf Trap Institute and Dancing Classrooms.

Prior to NJPAC, Ambrose worked for an array of community-minded organizations and companies.   He got his start in arts administration coordinating the outreach programs and events at Appel Farm Arts & Music Center in Elmer, NJ.  This included the logistical and volunteer staff oversight of the annual Appel Farm Arts & Music Festival in 1995 and 1996.

In addition, he has worked as an Associate Editor and Production Manager for the News Eagle, a weekly newspaper based in West Windsor, NJ.

Ambrose is a graduate of Rutgers University, Mason Gross School of the Arts with a B.F.A. in Visual Arts.  He is also a life-long musician who managed his own House of Joss Music LLC for many years.

A self-professed Jersey Boy, he is nevertheless thrilled to have crossed the border to Pennsylvania to further the cause of arts education for young people.
